People always say to me, “gosh I wish I did what you do.” My answer is always…. You can… I did not set out to be a photographer, it just sorta happened. I was teaching art at the elementary school in my local school and we were getting out for the summer… WELL… being the type A personality that I am I couldn’t just sit at home for the summer. A friend of mine suggested that I take photos of children for the summer since I loved kids and I loved to take pictures ( that’s all it was then, just pictures) I did just that. Of course I was going to quit as soon as school started back in the fall. NOT….. I had mom’s calling me constantly asking me to take their children’s photos. It was really fun, I loved playing with the kids cause that’s all it was to me. Getting on the ground with them, making them laugh, just being a big ole kid myself. ( I do that well) anyway…… That was the beginning of my photography business. I captured only kids for about 3 years specializing in black and white and hand-tinting. ( that’s when we did it by hand, not computerized) Then I agreed to capture that FIRST WEDDING and the truth is my LOVE took another turn. I was hooked. I’ve been covering weddings pretty much exclusively for almost 8 years now. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT
See sometimes we just don’t put to action the talents we have. Sometimes we hide them even from ourselves. I think that you should get up every single day and do something that you enjoy and if your not…. then change it.
